| Fob watches are designed to be carried in your pocket, as opposed to wrist watches that are strapped to your wrist. Fob watches are ideal for use by nurses, doctors, or other healthcare professionals, as by there very nature,
they rarely come into skin contact, nor do they very often come into contact with the patients, viruses, bacteria or other forms of infection. There are a number of different materials used in the production of fob watches, however most common are the silicon fob watch and the stainless steel fob watch. The silicon fob watch is often favoured as the watch itself can often be removed from the silicon outer casing. This allows the fob casing to be thoroughly washed and sterilized by the nurse, should contact with a patient, a virus, or an infection be noted. It is also good practice for the nurse or healthcare professional to remove the silicon outer casing and sterilize on a daily basis to reduce the risks of infection even further. The silicon fob watch is easily cleaned with warm soapy water, and is wipe clean making cleaning simple. Also due to the chemical composition of silicon, there are no hidden nooks, crannys or cracks for infections to gather, store or even grow. The other popular variety of fob watch amongst nurses is the stainless steel fob watch. Though the outer casing is often not removable as in the case of the silicon fob watch, the composition of stainless steel, prevents bacteria or infection from growing, and stainless steel really is simple to clean, with just a simple wipe with a sterile alcohol pad or a thorough clean with warm soapy water. |
