"Olde World Time"
Grand Father Clocks
In 1760 English clockmaker William Clement developed the longcase clock, a freestanding, weight-driven pendulum clock with the pendulum held inside the tower. In 1876 Henry Clay Work wrote a song starting with " my grandfathers clock was to large for the shelf, so it stood ninety years on the floor,"....." But it stopped short never to go again, when the old man died ".
It is said that Henrys song is responsible for the longcase clock taking on the common name " Grand Father Clock ".
Now we at On Time Watches have great pleasure in manufacturing and distributing this amazing collection of traditional and ultra modern Grand Father floor clocks. Stunning white or Pine with halogen lighting or maybe a grand old style Solid Oak with soothing Westminster chimes.
We hope you will enjoy this walk through time with me as much as We enjoy being a part of this fascinating history of time.
Best Regards
Don and Julie Tappin
